Leinster Women’s Championship & Duggan Cup – A great success

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday last weekend Donabate hosted the ILGU run Leinster Championship & Duggan Cup. The weather held out, the course looked great and everything ran as efficiently and smoothly as the Swiss railway system. All participants were struck by our beautiful course and club facilities and by the friendliness and hospitality of members and staff of Donabate. What a pleasure it was for us to watch fantastic golf played by all participants over the few days.

Many thanks to those from the Ladies’ Men’s and Junior clubs who volunteered their time and energy to act as hosts and ball spotters over the few days and thus ensure the smooth running of the competitions. Congratulations to ILGU officials, Lady Captain Margaret, Lady Vice Captain Carmel, Course Manager Alan, Liam Bridgette and Club Manager Robert. Their minute planning and preparations contributed to the efficiency of such a well-run operation. Well done to all our Donabate participants in the competitions, Pat Doran, Nicole McGavisk, Frances Cullen, Lesley Costello, Ciara O’Hara, Fionnuala Forde and Elaine Fitzgerald. A special congratulations to Nicole who received a prize for the best Nett Overall in the Strokeplay qualifiers.

Lady Captain Margaret, Karen Forrester (Mannan Castle GC) winner of the Duggan Cup, Mairead Martin (Kanturk GC) Leinster Champion with Pauline Byrne Chairperson ILGU East Leinster District.
